Legends tell that as the city of Alexandria was falling around them, a select groups of Egyptians were chosen to keep safe the symbols of metaphysical formulas and knowledge.
These travelers ended up in what is now known as Europe, and these guardians of the hidden knowlsge were known as Gypsies. To keep the information from falling into the hands of their persecutors, these nomads traveled from valley to dale, living off the fruits of the Earth.
The Tarot has acquired much more history and took on many changes and looks to the decks as they related to the culture of the region. As the Tarot has gone through many transformations over the centuries, it endured and serves as a reminder that Truth and the pursuit of it endures time.
The first known set of existing Tarot cards were found in Italy in 1500 A.D. It has gone in and out of fashion in the stately courts of the Royals of Europe to have a resident fortune teller, who would read their cards to divine the upcoming events in a persons' life.
My family hails from Louisiana and not only do I have the tradition of reading the Tarot and conjuring to follow, but I have been blessed with being given the teachings of Native American herb knowledge.
I also am skilled in the arts of Hoodoo and Conjure. My grandmother was a root worker in Beauregard Parish, LA. I have been blessed to have this tradition passed down to me.
